Thursday 25 May 2023 Our Castle Day Today was our Castle Day. We all came dressed as knights and re-enacted The Battle of Hastings. Mrs Newbery was impressed with how much information we had remembered. We also took part in a quest where we had to work in teams to rescue knights captured by the mean king. In the afternoon, we had a jousting competition, a banquet and took part in some medieval dancing. We particularly enjoyed the chicken drumsticks, bread, cheese, apples and carrots.

Wednesday 24 May 2023 Plants and Leaf Bashing This afternoon, we took our learning outside. We planted sunflower seeds, did some leaf bashing and drew and labeled pictures of plants. We can name the roots, stem, petals, flower and leaves.

Tuesday 23 May 2023 Badger golf This past Monday, Ella, Imogen, Jacob and Gracie took part in a golf tournament, along with some of our friends in Fox class. Despite the clouds, the rain held off for most of the day and everyone had a fantastic time. The children got to hone their golf skills in a series of activities and worked very well as part of a team.

Friday 19 May 2023 Oak Class Blog - 19th May 2023 This week, Oak Class explored balanced arguments in English, carried out number challenges in Maths and experienced their first Capoeira session.

Thursday 18 May 2023 Cool Capoeira Badger Class loved their Capoeira taster session today. They learnt about the history of the Brazilian dance-fight game and experienced the music that is such a huge part of it. The children tried out different moves including the frog, spider and cat pose before the movements together to create sequences and routines. It was great fun and the children worked hard on their balance, flexibility and coordination.

Thursday 18 May 2023 Design Technology - Healthy Fruit Snacks Over the last few weeks, Badger Class have been researching, planning and making healthy fruit snacks.

Thursday 18 May 2023 Badger Class - Terrific Tennis Festival Lots of children from Badger Class enjoyed a tennis festival at Easton College last week. The children completed lots of mini skill based activities that were run by Easton College students. The children worked on different skills including accuracy, coordination and agility. All children represented the school really well and showed great enthusiasm to develop their tennis techniques.

Friday 12 May 2023 'Sunflowers' by Squirrel Class We have painted pictures of sunflowers based on the famous picture by Van Gogh. We have looked carefully at the shape and colour of the flowers and have taken our time with our painting. We have dabbed the paint to create a petal effect. Everyone that has seen them has commented on how good they are.

Friday 12 May 2023 Oak Class Blog - 12th May 2023 This week has been assessment week in Oak Class, with Year 6 carrying out their KS2 SATs assessments and Year 5 their end of year tests. The whole class approached these assessments with a positive attitude, trying their best and should be congratulated on their great efforts. They all enjoyed their movie and popcorn afternoon as a treat for all their hard work.

Wednesday 10 May 2023 3D Map of Spooner Row We made a 3d map of Station Road in Spooner Row using the toy railway, box model houses, felt and a roadway. We all stood up and looked at it from above before drawing our own maps on paper.

Friday 5 May 2023 King Charles III Coronation On Thursday, we had our own class coronation day celebration. We drew portraits of King Charles, made chocolate crispy cakes and sandwiches, and had a mini street party with games. We think that you will be impressed with our drawings of the king.

Tuesday 2 May 2023 Castles This week, we have been looking at the different parts of a castle and have made models of castles and labelled a castle picture. We have learnt the words portcullis, moat, drawbridge, keep, bailey and motte.

Friday 28 April 2023 Fox Class 24th-28th April 2023 Fox class has worked hard this week on telling the time in Maths and really enjoyed making given a given time on the clocks.

Friday 28 April 2023 Badger Class - 28th April 2023 Badger Class have been learning about plants in science this week and set up their own scientific investigations to explore the effect that plant food has on how well a plant can grow. The children explored the different variables that they would need to keep consistent to ensure a fair test and set up their investigations independently. We are excited to start recording the results in a few weeks!

Friday 28 April 2023 Oak Class Blog - 28th April 2023 Welcome back to Term 3 in Oak Class. All the children have returned full of enthusiasm for this term's learning and are working really hard. The Year 6 children are preparing for their up coming SATs, while Year 5 will be having some end of year assessments at the same time.

Friday 21 April 2023 Badger Class - 21.04.23 It has been a pleasure to welcome back Badger Class after the Easter break. All the children have enjoyed getting stuck into our new class novel - Secrets of a Sun King - and shared some excellent predictions and insights about the story so far. It is great to see them using their knowledge of Ancient Egyptians from last term and applying it our literacy learning.

Wednesday 19 April 2023 Maps We read the book ‘Me on a Map’ and used Google Earth to zoom in and look at Great Britain, England, Norfolk and Spooner Row. We then made our own maps of the classroom and used a map of the Quiet Garden to locate hidden objects.

Tuesday 18 April 2023 Jack and the Beanstalk We have been looking at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, as an introduction to our topic on ‘Castles’. We have acted out the story using a story sack, have planted bean seeds, measured beanstalks using footprints, found and ordered numbered beans and talked about how Jack felt when he had to sell his cow. We have also used Google Earth to locate Great Britain, Norfolk, Norwich, Wymondham and Spooner Row. We have made our own map of the classroom and used a map of the quiet Garden to locate hidden objects.

Friday 31 March 2023 Oak Class Blog - 31st March 2023 I can't believe that we are already to the end of term two. It has been another brilliant term in Oak Class, with all the children working really hard, showing enthusiasm and engagement in all their learning. Friday 31 March 2023 Imogen's Fundraising for National Autistic Society The whole school has been celebrating Autism Awareness Week but Imogen in particular has been doing some amazing work. Imogen has designed some bracelets and necklaces called Super Power and is selling them for donations so she can raise funds for the National Autistic Society.

Friday 31 March 2023 Design Technology - a chair for Mr Ted Badger Class put all their work on structures into practice today when they created their chair designs for Mr Ted out of carboard. The children worked extra hard to include lots of the joining and bending techniques we had had tried out.

Friday 31 March 2023 Rocks and Fossils Visitor Badger Class were lucky enough to have an amazing visit from Alan from Talk Wildlife who gave us a presentation on rocks and fossils as well as bringing in lots of different samples. It was really interesting and Badger Class showed off their fantastic knowledge.

Thursday 30 March 2023 Archery Today we had an archery session with Premier Sport. It was really fun and we all managed to hit the target.
