Autumn Week 3

This week, we have read the book ‘The Colour Monster Goes to School’. We have practised our breathing techniques. We have learned to tap under our eye and at the base of our thumb to help us calm down. We have also made sensory bottles.

We have started writing this week. Our work is based around the book ‘On Sudden Hill.’ We have been introduced to Granny Fantastic who teaches us lots of new vocabulary. We have talked and written sentences. It is very important that we practise speaking in full sentences.

In phonics, we have learnt the letters i, n, m and d. We have done lots of different activities to help us remember the sounds and learn to write them. We have also been practising blending sounds to make words.

In maths, we have continued our work on sorting objects and talking about similarities and differences. We have counted to 20 and subitized to 5.

We have had our second realGym lesson where we practised making different shapes – straddle, tuck, star. We started by making them on the floor, then moved to the low apparatus and finally on to the large apparatus. You can see photos of our shapes on the blog.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr Seager took the class and we learned about our five senses. We took part in smelling, touching and hearing activities and went on a senses walk.
