Castle Day

On Thursday we had our Castle Day. We started the day by dressing up as knights and re-enacting the Battle of Hasting. Ask us all about it - we know that William and the Normans came from France and had horses and archers. Harold got to the battle ground first and set his men up on the top of a hill. They made a shield wall. Harold was shot in the eye. William won and ordered castles to be built. The first castles were called Motte and Bailey castles and were made out of wood.

Once the battle was over, we had a jousting competition, completed a quest to rescue a captured knight, decorated goblets, enjoyed a medieval banquet and learned a circle dance. It was lots of fun. Mrs Newbery is going to put photos on the blog.
