Fireworks, Fireworks, Fireworks!

This week we have been looking at why we celebrate Bonfire Night and how we celebrate it. We have watched a PowerPoint about Guy Fawkes, talked about the fireworks that we have seen and carried out lots of firework themed experiments. We put Skittle sweets around the edge of a plate and added warm water. The colourful sugary shells dissolved into the water and made a pretty Catherine Wheel. We made ‘Fireworks in a Jar’ by mixing oil and water together and adding food colouring. The colours dripped through the oil and exploded into the water. We also made exploding fireworks by adding food colouring to a plate of milk. We touched the surface of the milk with washing up liquid and the food colouring exploded outwards.
