Friday 29 September 2023 Oak Class Residential Gallery This week, Oak Class went on their residential to Thorpe Woodlands. It was a fantastic, activity-packed trip, which all the children and staff enjoyed. To quote the children from Oak Class:

Friday 21 July 2023 Oak Class Blog - 21st July 2023 I can't believe we have reached the end of the school year! It has been a year filled with fun, learning, adventures and hard work by all the children in Oak Class. Every single member of the class, should be very proud of all they have achieved and the great role models they are for the younger years. When I asked the class, they said their highlights have been the residential to Thorpe Woodlands, Science Week, Art Weeks, Sports Day Computing Week and the end of year production 'Shakespeare Rocks'. They have also really enjoyed being together as Oak Class this year and I know the Year 5 children will miss the Year 6 children as they move onto their next adventures at secondary school.

Friday 23 June 2023 Oak Class Blog - 23rd June 2023 This week, Oak Class completed their learning on balanced arguments by debating 'School aged children should be banned from using devices'. Initially they all thought they shouldn't be but by the end of this unit they all agreed that there were pros and cons to device use. They have also been engaged and enthusiastic in our production rehearsals, which we started in the village hall this week.

Friday 16 June 2023 Oak Class Blog - 16th June 2023 This week has been Computing Week in Oak Class. The learning has been around the theme 'Creating Media- Vector Drawings'. The children have been using the google draw program and have learnt what vector drawings are, how to create shapes and objects and duplicate, move and resize objects. They have also been using the draw tools to make an exact copy of different animal pictures and the zoom in and out tool to draw things in detail. This learning has taken great patience and care from the children and it has been great to see the children using these attributes in their computing work this week. As you can see from the photos below, the children really enjoyed their computing week and created some wonderful work.

Friday 12 May 2023 Oak Class Blog - 12th May 2023 This week has been assessment week in Oak Class, with Year 6 carrying out their KS2 SATs assessments and Year 5 their end of year tests. The whole class approached these assessments with a positive attitude, trying their best and should be congratulated on their great efforts. They all enjoyed their movie and popcorn afternoon as a treat for all their hard work.

Friday 28 April 2023 Oak Class Blog - 28th April 2023 Welcome back to Term 3 in Oak Class. All the children have returned full of enthusiasm for this term's learning and are working really hard. Friday 10 March 2023 Oak Class Blog - 10th March 2023 As part of their Earth and Space learning, Oak Class took part in National Mars Day on Tuesday. The day started with a live talk about travelling to space by scientists and astronauts, where the class learnt about what is needed for a successful space mission. They also enjoyed seeing a dog explore Mars!

Friday 10 February 2023 Oak Class Blog - 10th February 2023 This week, Oak Class focused on Internet Safety, especially on Tuesday which was Safer Internet Day. They explored the great things about the internet but also the risk. Through looking at different scenarios, the class discussed the importance of what personal information you post online, the importance of secure passwords and also being able to spot a scam message/email/pop up. They also learnt about the age restrictions on games/apps.

They started with creating their own version of an expressionist portrait, using pictures of their own 'shocked' expressions as a starting point.

Friday 25 November 2022 Oak Class Blog - 25th November 2022 This week, Oak Class have enjoyed reading to the end of our thrilling class book 'Clockwork'. The Year 5 children produced their own games to test our knowledge of 'Clockwork', which the Year 6 enjoyed playing. They have also been securing their division knowledge using the chunking method in maths and started looking at the speeches of Greta Thunberg in English. In PE, they have been challenging themselves with different fitness tests, trying to improve their results each time.

Friday 18 November 2022 Oak Class Blog - 18th November 2022 This week has been all about 'Children in Need Day' in Oak Class. The children have been working in house groups to create some amazing activities for the younger children to experience, during our Children in Need Activity afternoon. As you can see from the photos below, the class did a brilliant job of devising, making and running their activities and the younger children loved taking part in them.

Friday 11 November 2022 Oak Class Blog - 11th November 2022 This week, Oak Class continued their English learning based on the book 'Clockwork' with a focus on writing a conversation between two of the characters. It has been multiplication week in Maths, where the children have reviewed and extended their knowledge of grid, extended and column multiplication.

This week, Oak Class have been continuing to read 'The Nowhere Emporium' in English, exploring negative numbers in Maths and carrying out Sports Hall Athletics in PE.

Tuesday 18 October 2022 Anti-Bullying Ambassador Training Day On Wednesday 12th October, some Year 4, 5 and 6 children attended a days training to start their journey to becoming anti-bullying ambassadors for the school. The training was run by The Diana Award team and developed the children's understanding of what bullying behaviour is, the different types of bullying behaviour and how they can support someone who might be experiencing bullying.

Friday 30 September 2022 Oak Class Blog - 30th September 2022 This week has been all about our residential to Thorpe Woodlands. All the children had an amazing time and I know have many highlights from the trip. The children showed brilliant team work skills, great resilience and courage in stepping out of their comfort zone on some of the activities. I think we would all agree that the food was delicious too.

Friday 22 July 2022 Oak Class Blog - 22nd July 2022 I can't believe it is the end of the school year already and what a wonderful year it has been for the staff and children in Oak Class. We all agree that they have been a friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic class, who have also been brilliant student leaders. There have been so many highlights from this school year, too many to mention them all but the ones that spring to mind are the residential, Children in Need Day, Science Week, DT Week, sports day and our trip to High Altitude this week.
