Oak Class Blog - 10th December 2021
This week, Oak Class have enjoyed creating their own Greek myth, continuing to explore fractions in Maths and delved into the history of the Olympics in History.
Maths
The exploration of fractions continued this week, in Oak Class. The class have really grown in confidence when working with fractions and this week used bar models to show adding and subtracting fractions and comparing fractions.
English
This week, Oak Class completed their mythical stories. They have all worked really hard in learning about myths and their features and planning and writing their own. I know the children are really proud of the stories they created and so they should be.
Topic
We are drawing to the end of our History topic on Ancient Greece and preparing for our Ancient Greece mini Olympics next week in PE. Like the competitors in Ancient Greece, Oak Class will be wearing wreaths during the opening ceremony, which they made themselves this week.
PE
This week, it was the turn of Year 6 to have their rugby taster and once again Kimberley the coach was so impressed with their team spirit, attitude and skills. In the meantime, the Year 5 children carried out some fitness/skills tests of their own as you can see from the photos below.
If your child is interested in going to rugby sessions outside of school and work with Kimberley again, please go to www.wymondhamrfc.com for details of sessions.
Next Week
It is hard to believe that the end of term is upon us. We have planned a few nice activities for the children next week:
Monday 13th December - Go to the village hall to watch the Badger Class production
Wednesday 15th December - Christmas Lunch (please book for your child)
Thursday 16th December - Online Pantomime
Friday 17th December - Christmas Jumper Day (the children can wear a Christmas jumper - see email on parent mail)
Friday 17th December - Meal on a Plate - (the children can bring a meal/treat plate for them to eat at lunchtime - see email on parent mail)
Proud Learning
Over the course of this term, Oak Class have produced many pieces of learning to be proud of. They have chosen one piece of their proud learning to share with you.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Curtis
