Oak Class Blog -11th February 2022

We have reached half term already! Oak Class spoke about their highlights of this half term, which included swimming for Year 5, SATs Confidence Club for Year 6, our World War II topic, creating Blitz art work and producing newspaper reports about the Blitz in English. They have all worked extremely hard this term and should be very proud of their efforts.

English

This week in English we had writing week, where Oak Class completed their teacher modelled and independent newspaper reports about two notable dates in the Blitz - the 7th September and the 29th December 1940. The children produced some excellent factual writing, including all the features of newspaper reports. I think there may be some future journalists amongst Oak Class.

Science

Oak Class had to devise an alarm system this week, using their knowledge of circuits. They then had to draw their circuit diagram and present their findings to the class. They have really enjoyed the electricity topic and have been able to explain their circuits using accurate scientific terms. Well done Oak Class!

Topic

This week, Oak Class took a step back in history and looked at the contents of a World War II evacuee's suitcase. The class also finished creating gas mask boxes to go into their evacuee suitcases. They had to use their 3D net and measurement skills to create an accurate box. As you can see from the photo below they were very pleased with their final products.

Wishing you all a lovely half term holiday.
