Oak Class Blog - 12th November 2021

This week, Oak Class have enjoyed hosting a cake sale, preparing activities for Pudsey Day next Friday and continuing to work hard and with enthusiasm in all areas of the curriculum. Thank you to all the parents/carers/children who contributed to the cake sale today and to all those who bought cakes.

English

Oak Class have continued to learn about how to write a myth and this week looked at some great examples, the features and the grammar needed to write a great myth.  Next week, they will be creating mythical creatures, heroic characters and settings from the distant past.

Maths

Oak Class took on the challenge of learning the short division method this week and showed great resilient skills, while carrying out their learning. By the end of the week, I think they even actually looked forward to our division lessons.

Science

This half term, Oak Class are learning about the circulatory system in their Humans and Other Animals learning in Science. The children were surprised to learn that the heart pumps approx 6 litres of blood around the body in 1 minute. The children had to work as a team to see how many litres of water they could move from one tub to another in 1 minute......they were not as fast as the heart but enjoyed the activity, as you can see from the photos below.

 Pudsey Day

Friday 19th November is 'Pudsey Day' at Spooner Row. The children can bring in a contribution of £2 to wear their own clothes, with all proceeds going to children in need.  In the afternoon the student leadership team/Oak Class will be running Pudsey themed games and activities in the playground for the other classes. The children in Oak Class are working hard in their house teams to prepare for these activities. I am sure they will tell you all about it.

Have a lovely weekend.
