Oak Class Blog - 29th April 2022
This week, Oak Class enjoyed using a short animation film as their input to writing, continued with their cricket sessions and started to explore the language for our new topic 'Extreme Planet'.
English
In English, Oak Class watched 'Ruin' a short animation film linked to the environment. This produced great class and group discussions and ended with the children writing brilliant diary entries as the main character.
Maths
Oak Class have been exploring geometry in Maths this week, with a particular focus on the perimeter and area of compound shapes and in Year 6 the area of triangles. Year 6 have continued to work hard in their weekly SATs confidence club, where they have been learning all about pie charts, ratio and proportion.
Other Curriculum Areas
In Science this week, Oak Class explored thermal insulators. They first looked at how ice melts on different surfaces and then devised an investigation about the best material for coats for mountaineers. In PE, the children continued with their cricket sessions with a cricket coach. This week they concentrated on batting and also started learning fielding skills.
Enjoy the long bank holiday weekend!
