Oak Class Blog - 4th February 2022
This week, Oak Class have looked into the events of the Blitz in more detail and also the lives of evacuees in World War II. They have also embraced the new laptops we have in Oak Class. Each child now has access to a laptop and they are a wonderful extra learning tool to have in the class. You can see from the photographs below how happy the children are to have these new resources.
English/Topic
Oak Class have continued reading our class text 'Goodnight Mr Tom' learning more about the life of an evacuee. This links in well with our study of the evacuation of children in our World War II topic. I know the children are looking forward to creating their evacuee suitcases next week and have already created a spitfire toy and a gas mask box to go into their suitcase.
Maths
This week, Oak class have expanded their fractions and decimals work to include the relationship with percentages. With the introduction of individual laptops to the class, the children have also been able to access TT Rockstars in class and are enjoying the challenge of speed recall of their times tables.
Science
Oak Class, once again, enjoyed the Science investigations linked to Electricity. The children had to create circuits, which could switch a buzzer on and off. Within this, they also looked at the different materials and items in the class which could conduct electricity and create a switch. As you can see from the photographs below, the children really enjoyed the investigations.
PE
The children have continued to explore balance and invasion techniques in PE this week. They have been introduced to a new game called Kabadi, which involves taking the tags from the opposing teams players. The children are really enjoying this new team game, as you can see from the photographs below.
