Oak Class Blog - 7th October 2022
This week in Oak Class, we have been working hard on sentence stacking, place value to 10 million and creating Christmas cards in October!
English
Oak Class have been reading the book 'The Nowhere Emporium' and using the language of this text to create fantastic sentences using alliteration, modal verbs, similes and adverbials. The book is a mystery text and I know the class are looking forward to continuing to read this over the next few weeks.
We have also been reviewing the spelling rules to secure these in the children's writing. They all enjoyed playing a game where they had to test each other on words that use y instead of i such a mystery.
Maths
This week, Oak Class have focused on place value into the millions. They have worked really hard to problem solve with these larger numbers and explain what they did.
Lost Property
If you have found any items that don't belong to your child from our recent residential, can you please pop them back to me and I will make sure they are reunited with the right person.
Christmas Cards
This afternoon your child will bring home their Christmas card design , which can be used to create personalised cards, paper, mugs etc. It will be attached to a form from Cauliflower Cards - https://xmas.cauliflowergroup.co.uk
Should you wish to purchase any items, please order online at the above address and fill in the appropriate parts of the form and return the form and your child's design back to us in school. This is so we can scan/send off all the designs together. This needs to be done by the 2nd November 2022.
Have a lovely weekend!
