Academy Improvement Plan

Spooner Row Primary School Academy Improvement Plan Summary (2020/21)

This Academy Improvement Plan has been produced as a result of discussion with Governors, teaching staff and non-teaching staff.

This year our targets have been chosen to continue to improve the positive learning experiences of the whole school.

We have detailed Action Plans in the following areas:

  • Writing

  • Assessment

  • Curriculum

  • RSE

  • Subject Leadership

  • Artsmark

Through these Action Plans we aim to:

  • Further develop Writing to ensure that progress and attainment exceeds the national average

  • To continue to develop the PiXL assessment cycle across KS1 & 2 and ensure that results analysis tools are used to full effect to close attainment gaps and inform planning, teaching and learning.

  • To embed intent, implementation and impact into our core and non-core curriculum and to ensure that the revised two-year curriculum is planned in line with expectations for each half term, with clear progression in knowledge, understanding and skills.

  • To implement statutory changes to the RSE curriculum in alignment with national policy, ensuring full coverage and sensitivity to the needs of pupils returning from a sustained period away from the classroom.

  • To empower staff across both schools to work collaboratively taking on subject leadership responsibilities in teams.

  • Achieve our Artsmark accreditation

Most importantly we will continue to ensure that ALL pupils make good progress, achieve to the best of their ability and have fun doing so! We believe that children develop best when they are in a safe, disciplined and happy environment enabling them to give full attention to what they are learning.
