Our Friends

Friends of Spooner Row Primary School is made up of a fantastic group of parents, carers, school staff, teachers and other community members who are constantly looking for fun and exciting ways to help raise additional funds for our school.

Friends has been an integral part of our school community for many years and has raised thousands of pounds which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education, the school experience, and the school’s facilities.

The success of the events we run is down to the generous help and support from our parents, headteacher, school staff, teachers, and of course the children. In recent years, Friends have organised Halloween & Easter Discos, Christmas Sip & Shops, Bake Sales and so much more.

The aim of Friends is more than simply fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring our community together socially, working towards the common goal of supporting the school.

Role of the Friends Committee

The Friends of Spooner Row Primary School currently consists of three officers:

Chair: Sophia Rudd

Treasurer: Gemma Dineen

Secretary: Ellie Weaver

The Committee holds planning meetings on a regular basis. You are welcome to join us at any of these to share your ideas and views.

How you can support us

All parents, carers and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. There are opportunities to join the committee, assist with a particular event, or volunteer on the day.  You can also support us through other ways such as registering with EasyFundraising or Asda’s Cashpot for Schools (details below).

We are always looking for new members, new ideas and new suppliers so if you are interested in becoming a part of this incredible organisation, then contact us at friendsofspoonerrow@gmail.com or via the school office.

  2. Every time you shop online, go to EasyFundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping. Or even better, add the ‘Donation Reminder’ extension to your web browser and you will receive a pop up whenever a brand will donate to our cause!
  3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to Friends of Spooner Row Primary School at no extra cost to you whatsoever!

Cashpot for Schools

Parentkind, the charity that supports school PTAs, have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative.

All you have to do is opt in through the Asda Rewards app, choose Spooner Row Primary School and shop & scan in store or shop online at Asda.com until 30th November 2024.

Asda will donate 0.5% of the value of your shop to the Friends of Spooner Row Primary School. Also, every time somebody opts in, Asda will give an additional £1 to the school Cashpot. Plus, it doesn’t stop there – Asda are also giving £50 to every school to get them started! What’s not to love?

What we use the money for

Money raised at our events is used for various enrichment projects and equipment throughout the school. Each year we allocate class budgets (for all those extra little things that help the teachers!), donate towards class trips and we are working with the school on some exciting projects for 2025, so watch this space!

But it’s not all about how much money we can raise; we operate to give every child the opportunity to enjoy social events within school and we are always looking for ways to get more involved in our local community.

Links with local businesses

Many of our local shops and businesses are very generous providing donations for raffle prizes, contributions to refreshments and sponsorship for events. If you run your own business, or work for a firm in the local area that would be willing to help out, please get in touch with any ideas for how you might be able to contribute to the success of our next event.

How to contact us

Don’t be afraid to come and speak to any of us on the playground! You can also send enquiries to friendsofspoonerrow@gmail.com or keep up to date with events by following our Facebook page.
